It's March Madness

My first race of the New Year.  I've been running on and off for the past few years but it was just to lose weight.  I've accomplished the weight loss but fell in love with running all over again.  The passion for running started when I was a 4th grader.  I ran track along with cross country till I graduated from high school.  At the time, I was pretty good until I started slacking off and didn't care to train as hard as everyone else.

In July 2010, I purchased a nike sensor so I can use my ipod to time my runs.  It was the best purchase I ever made.  I like how it trains you for any race plus it graphs (http://www.nikeplus.com/) your runs so you can see how fast and slow your pace was.

I made a promise to myself to continue eating healthy (because of the weight loss) and run again.  My goal is to train for my 1st half marathon and later a full marathon in the future.  I have 2 active children and in ways I'm doing this for them too.  I want them to know that "You can do anything you set your mind to do".

My first race of the year results:

It's not the greatest time but this was my first race of the year and my goal was to run w/out stopping.  It was very cold (37 degrees).  I'm not use to running in cold weather.  I also didn't have the proper running gear which I plan to purchase soon.  I've got 2 more races this month.  I plan to better my time.

Personal Note  *Thank you honey for being there for me.  It was the best feeling in the world to see your big smile and sign I couldn't read from a far (LOL) waiting for me at the finish line.* XOXO
